CHAPTER HISTORY

The Delta Iota chapter was founded at Central Michigan University on March 11, 1944. Its founding members included Isabel Kay Greenhoe, Fay Elaine Christenson, Barbara J. Houghton, Helen Teal, Jane Watrous, and Rosemary Skelton. Several members of the CMU faculty are Delta Omicron alumni, including Elizabeth Brown, Nina Nash-Robertson, Moonyeen Albrecht, and Mary Beth Minnis.  CMU Professor and world-renowned composer David Gillingham was recently named a Delta Omicron National Patron.

In Spring of 1995, Dr. Robert Lindahl was named Chapter Father for Delta Iota. He made Delta Omicron history by being the first ever Chapter Father. He replaced Professor John Nichol as Chapter Advisor. When he joined the fraternity, there were only 8 active members, and the pledge class which was initiated with him doubled the size of the fraternity, to make 16. The fraternity has been growing rapidly and becoming a very strong and solid organization on campus. There are currently over 30 active members. Just recently, the Delta Iota chapter was given many national awards, including Chapter of Excellence. Dr. Robert Lindahl was rewarded for his tremendous efforts by receiving Advisor of the Year. We congratulate Dr. Bob and give him our sincerest thanks!
