Member Biographies
Here is a list of all of the current active members of Delta Omicron. If this member has submitted a short bio, it will also be below.
Members of Delta Omicron in Alphabetical Order:

Ashley Biermann is a Music Education major with an Euphonium instrumental minor. She joined DO because everyone in the group was/is very excited about music! She also joined because she could see how productive the group was in real life, not just in words or writing. Her big is Krystal Mitchell who is "always so down-to-earth". Ashley's little is Prea Saunders who is "a bundle of goofiness and [she] loves it!" On a less formal note, she loves chocolate, shopping, cooking, and the Summer months. Ashley also serves as the 2nd VP of Alumni Relations.

Raquel Brauker

Korey Brown, a fourth year senior from Grand Rapids Michigan, has been active in Delta Iota since 2006. He is currently receiving his Bachelors in Arts in European Studies with Minors in Music on Oboe/English Horn and Art History. Upon receiving his degree, he has plans on going into development within the fine arts. As an active member he has served as the 1st Vice President, as well as Spring Into Music Chair and Grant Committee chair. He was also named Star of DO in 2008.  In his free time, Korey works for Mount Pleasant Public Schools as a color guard technician, and choreographer and is also a member of Orchesis Dance Theater.

Danielle Fowler

Chelsea Gelisse joined Delta Omicron in the Fall of 2008.  She is a Music Education Major with focus in Middle Level Education and the tuba.  She resides in Kawkawlin, Michigan (which is in the Bay City area).  Her Big is Katie Gielczyk, who is probably the most fun and loving person around. Chelsea loves her DO family both in who they are and what they do & stand for.  Delta Omicron is one of Chelsea's greatest experiences and intends to share that with everyone she encounters in life.  In her spare time Chelsea likes to just relax, read a book, listen to music, shop, and just be around the people that she loves!

Katie Gielczyk

Mark Hageman is studying the violin as a Music Education major. He joined DO in the Fall of 2007 because he liked everything they did as a group. His big is Sara Pschigoda and his little is Jessica Mills. He is also a member of the American String Teachers Association, and works for the Midland Music Society as a substitute violinist. Mark serves as the Director of Musical Activities for Delta Omicron.

Katie Hillyard is a mezzo-soprano, and is a Music Education major. She is originally from Grand Rapids, and loves to read, watch movies, write, and play softball. Outside of DO she is also involved in the CMU Marching Band and On The Rox, an all female a cappella group. Her big is Kathryn Wills. The best part of joining DO according to Katie "is all [her] new brothers and sisters!".

Kyle Meade is a sophomore bass-baritone, and is currently pursuing a Voice Performance (and considering a Music Education) major. He played the role of The Mikado in CMU's 2008 production of The Mikado, and also played the role of Der Sprecher in our production of The Magic Flute in March 2009. Kyle was in the PM class of Spring 08, and loves being an active member of the PURPLE TREE! In his spare time he likes to read, work on the DO website, sing (of course!), watch anime, and pretend that he is Mulan.

Jessica Mills

Emily Morgan is studying the Flute and is a Music Education major with a Leadership minor. She is currently a senior and the President of Delta Omicron! After graduation she plans on teaching wherever she can find a job, and go to graduate school in a few years. Her Big is Christine Bobick, and her Littles are Melinda Middlemiss and Zach Vandergraff. A few of her hobbies include running, scrapbooking, cleaning, cooking, and hanging out with her friends and sister. Emily especially loves the group cohesiveness and friendship that she found in DO.

Rachel Nemcik

Sarah Oren is a 4th year Music Education major at CMU, and plays the Oboe. After she graduates she would like to teach high school music, "and Delta Omicron has helped [her] prepare for that experience" (direct quote!). She joined the group to meet new people and professionally prepare for life after graduation. Other than being a member of DO, she teaches private lessons for Oboe, works marching band camps, and is a counselor at the CMU Summer Music Camp. She also enjoys VeggieTales! :)

Kristin Pagels

Rachel Pedersen is a soprano, and a Music Education major with an English minor. She sings in CMU's Chamber Singers, and is also the Multi-cultural advisor for the Emmons residence hall. Rachel is an honors student, and loves to read, watch movies, and listen to music in her spare time. She joined DO because she wanted to become more involved and meet new people. Her big is Nina McCuller and her Grand Big is Melissa Andres.

Sarah Quinn is a Sophomore Music Education major with a Cello instrumental minor and has been in Delta Omicron since Fall of 2008. She loves her big, Madeline Trombly, very dearly as well as her twin Danielle Fowler and her grand- big, Jessica Terban. She is so thankful for joining DO because she gets to be a part in spreading music into the community on an every day basis. In her spare time, Sarah likes to watch movies, play with anything Mac, being active outside, being with her family and girlfriend, and be behind the lens of her Canon DSLR and take pictures anywhere there are pictures to be taken.

Prea Saunders is a Waterford Sophomore who is currently in her first active semester of Delta Omicron. She is majoring in Music Education with a choral minor. With this degree, she hopes to conduct choirs at the secondary level and would like to eventually teach at the University level. She joined Delta Omicron to serve a more active role in the music building and to grow professionally and personally. She is apart of the Yellow tree and her big is Ashley Biermann. When she has some free time she enjoys reading, watching movies, spending time with friends, and playing online computer games (such as Diner Dash)!

Jillian Schlegel is a sophomore at CMU.  She is a music education major with a minor in flute performance.  She is from Remus, Michigan and graduated from Chippewa Hills High School.  Jillian enjoys spending time with friends and family, going on long drives, singing with the radio, watching old movies, cooking and knitting.  She also loves spending time outside, traveling, coffee and chocolate.   Delta Omicron's purposes and objectives, inviting envrionment and fun-loving members are what helped her decide to join the fraternity.

Valerie Shaw joined Delta Iota in the spring of 2005 as a freshmen.  She has been active in all aspects of the chapter and has held the positions of Director of Publicity, Historian and Student Government Association Representative.  Valerie is pursuing a Bachelor's of Music Education with minors in Flute Performance and Entrepreneurship.  Her intended date of graduation will be May of 2010.

Michelle Schueneman

Madeline Trombly is currently tackling a double major in Music Performance (Flute/Piccolo) and Business Marketing with a minor in Advertising. If she cannot make a career out of performance, she plans on falling back on becoming an advertising representative for an orchestra or school of music. She is currently the Treasurer of Delta Omicron. She has held the principal Flute position in CMU's orchestra for a couple of years, and also substitutes for the Midland Orchestra. Madeline was an honorable mention in last year's Concerto Competition, and recieved the "Star of DO" award in the Spring of 2008.

Zachary Vandergraff

Kathryn Wills is a mezzo-soprano from Caro, Mi, and is currently studying Vocal Performance. She sings at St. John's Episcopal Church in Mount Pleasant under the Blackburn Choral Scholarship program. Her Little is Katie Hillyard and her Big is Cassidy Caswell. She is a proud member of THE BLUE TREE and is QUITE TIGHT with her Blue Tree relatives! Her favorite food is Mexican cuisine. Her favorite colors include brown, blue, and green. After graduation (in the winter of 2009) she plans to attend graduate school as an opera performance major and possibly voice pedagogy. Kathryn has hopes of attaining leading operatic roles and becoming a faculty member at a good music school before settling down to have a family with her wonderful fiance, Michael. She hopes to someday teach at Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer. In her spare time, she likes to be crafty and listen to music. Her favorite mezzo-soprano of the moment is Teresa Berganza.
