SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

DESCRIPTION:

The Student Accounting Society Scholarship Award has been established to assist full-time undergraduate students who have demonstrated academic achievement and involvement with the Student Accounting Society.

AMOUNT:

One $300 scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA:

Scholarship is limited to only active members of the Student Accounting Society. An active member being:

a) one who has paid current semester dues, and
b) one who has actively participated in meetings and social events

Student must be a full-time (12+ credits per semester) undergraduate.
Scholarship is non-renewable.
Student must have at least one academic semester left at CMU.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Students must file a Student Accounting Society Scholarship Application with the School of Accounting.

Applicants MUST provide a narrative (not to exceed 2 pages) in which they:

• explain why they desire to pursue an accounting major
• describe future plans after college
• describe their co-curricular activities and/or interests
• why they deserve to receive this scholarship over someone else

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

For the current semester Fall 1998, applications with narrative are due by October 22, 1998 for scholarship consideration.

COORDINATION WITH OTHER FINANCIAL AID:

Student Accounting Society Scholarship recipients applying for financial aid from the federal government, CMU and/or the State of Michigan scholarships may be eligible to receive scholarships or grant awards in addition to the SAS Scholarship.

METHOD OF PAYMENT:

The financial aid office will directly credit the scholarship to the recipients student account toward tuition the following semester.
